Accessibility Statement
At Africa Moto Tours, we are dedicated to providing authentic, guided 4x4 and motorcycle adventures across Africa. Our tours traverse remote, rugged, and often physically demanding terrains. While we strive to accommodate a variety of needs, the adventurous nature of our tours requires certain physical capabilities to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants.
Our Commitment to Accessibility
We aim to make our tours as accessible as possible without compromising the adventurous essence of the experience. Our efforts include:
Detailed Pre-Tour Information: We provide clear descriptions of terrain difficulty, accommodation types, and required skill levels to help you determine if a tour is right for you.
4x4 Tour Options: Our 4x4-based tours offer a more accessible alternative for those unable to ride motorcycles.
Accommodation Considerations: We partner with lodges and campsites that offer accessible features whenever possible. However, due to the remote nature of certain locations, full accessibility cannot always be guaranteed.
Alternative Communication: We provide itinerary details in multiple formats, offer video call consultations, and ensure clear, step-by-step instructions.
Personalized Support: If you have specific concerns, we encourage you to contact us before booking so we can assess whether reasonable adjustments can be made.
Who Can Join Our Tours?
4x4 Tours – The More Accessible Option
Our 4x4 adventure tours are ideal for travelers who:
- Have limited mobility but can enter and exit a 4x4 vehicle with assistance.
- Use a prosthetic limb and can manage moderate physical activity outside the vehicle.
- Have minor visual or hearing impairments that do not prevent safe participation in guided activities.
- Can walk short distances over uneven terrain, with or without assistance.
Important Considerations for 4x4 Tours:
- Certain locations may lack wheelchair-accessible restrooms or facilities.
- The tour involves entering and exiting the vehicle multiple times a day, often in rugged areas.
- Off-road driving can be bumpy and physically jarring.
Motorcycle Tours – Physical Requirements & Limitations
Motorcycle tours require:
- Full mobility in legs and arms.
- The ability to support and balance a motorcycle in various off-road conditions.
- No medical conditions that impair reaction time, balance, or coordination.
- Good vision (with corrective lenses if necessary).
- The stamina to ride for several hours a day with scheduled breaks.
Motorcycle tours are NOT suitable for individuals with:
- ✕Paralysis or severe mobility impairments that prevent full control of the motorcycle.
- ✕Severe arthritis, joint disorders, or chronic pain conditions affecting grip strength or endurance.
- ✕Significant hearing impairments that prevent hearing instructions via helmet intercoms.
- ✕Epilepsy or seizure disorders that may pose a danger while riding.
- ✕Cognitive impairments affecting decision-making, navigation, or reaction time.
- ✕Severe vertigo or equilibrium disorders.
- ✕Recent major surgeries or ongoing rehabilitation for serious injuries.
Important Considerations for Motorcycle Tours:
Experience: All riders must have prior motorcycle experience. Certain routes require specific off-road or adventure riding skills.
Gear: Protective riding gear is mandatory for safety.
Medical Access: Some remote areas may not have immediate access to advanced medical facilities.
